VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Join us in making STEAM a new sport!

At LAUNCH, we're on a mission to make STEAM programs as fun and engaging as hockey, dance, gymnastics, or soccer.

Volunteers are essential in helping us inspire children and youth to explore science, technology, engineering, art, and math in fun ways!

Without our dedicated team of Head Coaches, Coaches, and Assistant Coaches, our programs would not be possible.

Assistant Coach Volunteer

Assistant Coach Volunteers play a key role in helping coach and teach the young minds of tomorrow in all things STEAM! Assistant Coaches work alongside our Head Coaches in leading their team through fun, STEAM-themed programs and activities. During the sessions, volunteers will help support and engage the kids and act as a mentor for the participants of their team.

Assistant Coach Volunteers perform many duties during their sessions, but main duties will include:

  • Helping set up/take down activities

  • Taking part in demos of experiments

  • Leading games under the Head Coach’s directive

  • Assisting with the presentation of any STEAM-related concepts by clarifying ideas or providing additional examples

  • Trying out all the fun activities along with the kids to act as a role model, and help explain/demonstrate the steps of the activity

  • Supervising participants in activities and experiments

  • Encouraging fun and learning!

Assistant Coach Volunteers must be able to commit to a weekly, 1.5-hour shift between the hours of 4:15pm and 8:15pm, Monday through Wednesday, or 9:15am to 3:45pm Saturday.

LAUNCH Programs operate at various locations throughout Kitchener-Waterloo. Your own transportation to and from your specified program site will be required (all locations are on bus routes).
